Discovery
The
Discovery name is associated with carrying out daring missions at considerable distances from its territories. It was the name of one of Henry Hudson's ships, who explored Hudson Bay in 1610−1611. In the 1770s, British captain James Cook discovered the Hawaiian Islands and explored the coasts of Alaska and northwestern Canada on board of the Discovery ship. Two more Discoveries were built by the British Royal Geographical Society to explore the North Pole and Antarctica in 1875 and 1901. Discovery was the name of one of NASA's five space shuttles, as well as five generations of British Land Rover SUVs that have been involved in many journeys around the world.
